Déjà Vu

Déjà vu

Déjà vu is giving me attitude.

Memories of former promises haunt hope.
Zeal is stolen by a reality that makes more sense in February.
The gentle whispers of the past speak philosophically,
But not as loud as the future does.
The future screams obscenities to the fear that could make it vacant.
Fear is listening…quivering.
The future stays screaming, defending the work of my hands with middle fingers.
Unjustified hope gropes my mind along with these grenades of faith.

Déjà vu is giving me attitude.

My dreams relocate to a place bigger than my mind.
My fingers tingle, my thumb writes.
My black knees don’t give a fuck,
Defeat has made them numb;
so come what May, my praise will be as flawless in August.
Alarm clocks are too slow.
My body is my soul.

Déjà vu is giving me attitude.

Shame I don’t speak French.
