When I think about Man’s obsession with the night sky
I think about the infinite blackness of your eyes that
Have always left me questioning whether you are truly
Human or just the secret love child of the Moon and

An onyx-skinned being.

In the right light your eyes flicker and
I see faint images of your conception,
the night when they
Wrapped their bodies in shadows and surrendered
Their love to the cosmos.
This is why your eyes have their own gravitational pull.

For thousands of years,
Man has spent
Pain, grief, love, money and blood
Searching for an understanding of itself in…

The blackness of the universe.
