Hometown

My hometown.

I’m just here,
Looking up to the very top of this block and feeling inspired.

These seemless streets, seem to be me.
These concrete clad stones have become my home.
Bus stops have become thrones,
corner shops now corner stones
for this life unknown.

My hometown,
my home now.

You are my school,
my family,
my thoughts.
My ABC,
You are my chores.
Washing the plates,
mopping the floor.

Clocking my flaws.

Before I could walk,
I knew this floor.
I knew those trees,
I embodied those thorns.
See nobody informed me
That my body would form to be
in body and form
a reflection of your dreams.

Dreams of freedom.

See, I’m just here.
Looking up to the very top of this block and feeling inspired.

Just here,
tryna rise high like these high rises.
